Created between 1720 and 1728, "Antique Bust of a Conspicuous Woman" by Bernard Picart is an elegantly detailed study of a marble bust using black chalk. Born in Paris in 1673, Bernard Picart settled in Amsterdam and worked as a painter, draftsman and engraver whose work was produced primarily to illustrate religious books. A prolific artist, many of his drawings are in the Bibliotheque nationale de France, the Louvre and the Teylers Museum in the Netherlands. CB2 exclusive.
