Woven by hand on a traditional loom, New Zealand wool tapestry pays homage to the distinctive organic motifs of California midcentury modernism. True to an original 1959 design by Los Angeles artist Evelyn Ackerman, deep hues of green, sequoia and cream evoke the feeling of a crisp autumn day. Tapestry is suspended by stainless steel plates for easy display. CB2 exclusive.
Detroit native Evelyn Ackerman founded ERA Industries in 1956 with her husband, Jerome. For 50 years, the Los Angeles-based couple played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. Ackerman's first woven tapestry design was featured on the cover of the Los Angeles Times Home Magazine in 1957. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
