"Dark of Night" is characterized by a muted palette and striking minimalism as it tells the story of a sunset. Creating the piece while on a visit to Florida, artist Kim Knoll paired the deep black of the ink with soft, smoky acrylic to create a bold, graphic composition. "I was inspired by the sun setting and its light getting weaker through blind slats on a window," Knoll explains. The artist's original work is reproduced here as a giclée print.
Kim Knoll is a Chicago-based artist who seeks calm and stillness through painting memories and moments from time spent in nature. "My style is an abstract interpretation of memorable sights from places I've been or the way something makes me feel."
