Polished cast brass sculpture pays homage to the distinctive motifs of California midcentury modernism. Recreated from "Flowers," an original 1964 hand-hooked wall hanging by Los Angeles artist Evelyn Ackerman, the freestanding sculpture, set on a solid Italian marble base, captures the expressiveness of pattern and composition. The original motif, now translated in polished cast brass for modern audiences, highlights Ackerman's rare ability to design across a wide range of materials. Brass is unlacquered, offering a living finish that will develop the patina of a vintage find. CB2 exclusive.
Founding ERA Industries in 1956, Los Angeles-based Evelyn Ackerman and her husband Jerome played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. By 1959, Evelyn's hand-hooked wall hangings became some of their most popular designs, selling in department stores like Bloomingdale's and Macy's. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
