Using the same techniques developed during pre-Incan times, our best-selling Cusco textured terracotta bowl is crafted entirely by hand by artisans in Chulucanas, Peru. Terracotta is shaped on a potter's wheel, then a netting is applied to create the distinct serpentine pattern before it's kiln-fired. Each vase is fired five times to achieve a rich blackened finish, the result of a special kiln that imparts the natural resin of mango leaves onto each piece. Because the process is so labor intensive, only 20 pieces are made each day. CB2 exclusive.
