Elegant appetizer plate pays homage to an original woven tapestry designed by famed midcentury artist Evelyn Ackerman. The original work is defined by a stallion motif that embodies the spirit of California midcentury modernism. Recreated here by skilled artisans in Portugal, the plate is finished with a reactive glaze to create subtle variations unique to each piece. Each plate adds a unique accent to the table. CB2 exclusive.
Los Angeles-based Evelyn Ackerman and her husband, Jerome, founded ERA Industries in 1956 and played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. In 1957, Evelyn began designing handwoven tapestries that could translate into ceramics. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
