Inspired by a memory of driving in a mild snowfall, "Hyperspace" is an exploration of artist Stephane Fontaine's relationship with the natural world. "It felt like the snow was communicating with me by writing on the night sky," explains the artist. "The name comes from the film The Empire Strikes Back when the Millennium Falcon enters hyperspace because that's what it looks like to drive in the snow." For this work, Stephane Fontaine layers acrylic paint, grease pencil and charcoal for depth and texture, creating an abstract field defined by soft, lyrical imagery. CB2 exclusive.
Stephane Fontaine is an Ontario-based artist who favors exploring different materials, mediums and subjects, never settling on a single style. "The only thing that matters to me is being completely and utterly in the present moment," he says. "This is the essence of creativity."
