A study in contrast, the "Quarto" series pays homage to an original 1969 tapestry by Los Angeles artist Evelyn Ackerman. Reimagined as four high-contrast prints to allow for versatile arrangement, the original tapestry was selected for the Pasadena Art Museum's annual California Design exhibition to exemplify the importance of good creative design. "Quarto" is printed on archival paper and installed in a black metal frame. CB2 exclusive.
Founding ERA Industries in 1956, Los Angeles-based Evelyn Ackerman and her husband, Jerome, played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. In 1957, Evelyn began designing handwoven tapestries that could translate into prints. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
