Refined double old-fashioned glass pays homage to the distinctive motifs of California midcentury modernism. Recreated from an original 1959 wall hanging by Los Angeles artist Evelyn Ackerman, the glass features a sandblasted design of a lion. Among the first wall hangings Ackerman designed, the popular "Sun and Lion" reflects some of her recurring motifs of the natural world and medieval imagery. Now translated into barware, the motif highlights Ackerman's rare ability to design across a wide range of materials. CB2 exclusive.
Detroit natives Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman founded ERA Industries in 1956. For 50 years, the Los Angeles-based couple played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. By 1959, Evelyn's wall hangings became some of their most popular designs, selling in department stores such as J.L. Hudson, Macy's and Neiman-Marcus. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
